F.A.C.C’s Vote of Thanks
August 10th, 2006
On behalf of the Federation of Aweil Communities in Canada (F.A.C.C) and on my own behalf, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the office of the Aweil Union Society of Alberta (AUSA) and the entire Aweil community of Alberta for their generous and memorable welcome they accorded to the F.A.C.C delegates who came from across Canada. I would also like to extend equal appreciation to the organizing committee who worked tirelessly hard to make the Conference a resounding success. The spirit of generosity and unity demonstrated by the Aweil people of Alberta and their leadership will neither be forgotten by the F.A.C.C office nor by the delegates who came from various provinces of Canada. Please keep that spirit alive as it is important for the growth of our community and nation.
I must as well extend my greatest gratitude to the Aweil delegates who travel long distances to attend the F.A.C.C Conference. It is not easy to travel from distance places including Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia to come to Alberta as it is quite costly both in terms of time and money, however, that is what just happened. Our Conference’s delegations came from these distance places, demonstrating how much they care about Aweil as a State and our young nation- South Sudan. We at F.A.C.C say: thank you very much for making such daring sacrifices in the name of our Homeland- Aweil.
I would also like to pass my sincere gratitude to the Aweil elders who endured two-long days of the Conference and who provided inspiring speeches to the conferees. Your presence in our two-day’s Conference was very much felt and I strongly encourage you to continue playing this guiding role to our community.
Similar gratitude goes to our intellectuals (whose names will be provided during the compilation of Conference’s resolution) who made intellectually stimulating presentations during the Conference. The clarity and ‘informative-ness’ of their presentations help the audience to understand how much time it took them (presenters) to collect such information. Only people who love their Homeland would accept to utilize such vast amount of time to put together the kinds of work presented during the Conference. To you, the presenters, the time you spent researching on your work was a time well spent, your presentations were great learning opportunity for everyone in the Conference. Thank you a lot for accepting our call to put your intellectual competencies into the service of your community.
Finally, I wish to give a special recognition to our women for playing two vital roles: that of helping out in the organization of the Conference and for ensuring that services including water, food, among other essential services, were available each time they were needed. Thank you so much for your dedication to our community’s activities, our conference would not have been possible without you.
One last note, we will mention many important names during the compilation of our Conference’s resolution. Conference’s resolution will take time to become available as there is a lot work that needs to be put together. Thank you.
Yours Sincerely,
Ashuein Achuil Alor,
President,
Federation of Aweil Communities in Canada (F.A.C.C).
