F.A.C.C Public Notice: departure of executive member- Mr. Garang Manyok Kuot.

The office of the Federation of Aweil Communities in Canada (F.A.C.C) wishes to announce the departure of one of its executive members, Mr. Garang Manyok Kuot. Mr. Garang will be leaving for Sudan on January 12th 2007. Like most southerners who heard the call to go and help out in the reconstruction and rehabilitation effort of the war-torn South Sudan, Mr. Garang Manyok has accepted the challenge to join the hardworking men and women of South Sudan who are working day and night to rebuild their homeland. Rebuilding the historically marginalized nation of South Sudan requires the full participation of every exiled South Sudanese. However, it is needless to say that the decision to go back home at this time is not easy considering the scale of destruction the 22-year-long conflict has inflicted on our once beautiful country. Making such decision requires, above all things, undivided love for the land and willingness to sacrifice for the current and future generations. People like Garang Manyok who make tough decision to join the reconstruction team on the ground ( South Sudan ) deserve our greatest gratitude and admiration. Reestablishing the long lost glory of South Sudan is a monumental task that is too noble and worthy of every sacrifice.

Mr. Garang Manyok is a founding member of the F.A.C.C and has served two terms in its executive body. Since the founding of the F.A.C.C, Mr. Garang Manyok has been instrumental in every step aimed at ensuring the success of the Federation. Upon its founding, F.A.C.C did not start off on a leveled ground; there were differences in opinion on such areas as vision and goals of the Federation, a typical scenario in every democratic society. Throughout the ensuing crisis, Mr. Garang Manyok stood steadfastly for what the F.A.C.C was founded to accomplish: uniting the Aweil people in Canada and throughout the Western world and extending their collective contribution to their home State of Northern Bhar El Ghazel .

Mr. Garang Manyok has demonstrated his commitment to the unity and progress of Aweil people in ways that are astounding. Despite his many commitments, for instance, he has never failed to attend any of the F.A.C.C conferences usually held in places far away from his province of residence. In May 2005, for example, he drove for 28 hours along with other equally committed members to attend the F.A.C.C conference held in Winnipeg , Manitoba . His contributions did not end at attending the F.A.C.C conferences, he was instrumental in many other areas that included and not limited to financial contribution and valuable ideas.

It was truly an honor to have Mr. Garang Manyok in my two successive administrations. Aweil is greatly blessed to have people like him whose vision far exceeds clanism and all that divide. There is no doubt that Mr. Garang will play a prominent role in the on-going effort to rebuild the war-ruined State of Northern Bhar El Ghazel . My office and all members of the F.A.C.C will remember him as a person worthy of trust and respect. F.A.C.C office and all Aweil people in Canada wish him safe journey home and nothing but all the best in his endeavors at home. Thank you.

Yours Sincerely,

Ashuein Achuil Alor,
President,
Federation of Aweil Communities in Canada (F.A.C.C)
